owep

owep is openwaveenergy.org and company Intentium A/S first fully open DIY wave energy project. Earlier the company has been working with a strictly offshore concept, the patented iowep (Intentium offshore wave energy project). With the new launch of openwaveenergy.org, a new project with a wider scope has been set up: To develop a wave concept for all conditions, also conditions less offshore and with more choppy short-crested waves, like in the Skagerrak (the ocean-area outside Intentium's vicinity). Even though this concept may look different than the first concept, iowep, many of the same design guideline will be used. It is decided to give this concept the same name as the overlaying platform; owep – open wave energy project. Stay tuned ..

iowep

Norwegian company Intentium AS has been developing offshore floating wave power since 2007. Intentium offshore wave energy project - iowep, is the company's first wave project/converter. The major news in the innovation is the focus on the dominant wave direction and wave crest length by use of a wider float, the use of a double acting pump, a buoyancy controlled water anchor and a PTO consisting in accumulator, water turbine and generator. Using a wider stabilized float, results in a wider wavefront being captured and hence more energy being harvested. The PTO has hydro-power similarities, and is disconnected from the moorings.
