About the Open Wave Energy Project

January 2013. Open wave energy project is an open innovation arena to boost the development of wave energy. It is an initiative created by ocean energy developers, for ocean energy developers. When we launched this project a little over a year ago (Nov 2011), it probably become too abstract to get very much attention (although we did e.g. make it to the RECHARGE renewable magazine). When we now launch it over again, we will make it much more concrete: Within a specified time-frame, we will complete development, install and operate a large-scale ocean wave power pilot in Norwegian waters. We will do this as an open innovation, open source and DIY project, and we promise to keep the project operational, open and publishing as a minimum one year after installation. Please stay tuned ..

Intentium A/S is a Norwegian based R&D company, which has been working with development of offshore floating wave power since 2007. VAT-registration number 991559051 MVA. The company has completed several internal and external studies of floating wave energy converter systems, and has recently completed model testing in the deep ocean wave basin at Aalborg University through the EU funded FP7 project MARINET. Intentium has its own internal wave tank at its location in Sjøparken Larvik, Vestfold. The company has also been working with various projects within mechanical engineering, product design and construction of geothermal heating plants. There is however one thing the company don't do; It has taken a climate stand, and says no-thanks to the very lucrative oil&gas business, which dominate the Norwegian industry. And yes – ditching oil&gas makes running an R&D engineering business in this country a lot harder. The company is founded by M.Sc. Lars Edvardsen, and is located in the maritime county Vestfold.
